SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimisation – basically working with your site so that search engines can read it and index it correctly. Many websites are either poorly written or poorly designed, which means they don’t rank highly in the search results.
SEO is also a term applied to techniques used to maintain and develop a website in such a way as to increase its chances of ranking highly when relevant searches are undertaken.
If your site isn’t optimised for keywords relevant to your business, no one can find your site. If no one can find your site, you’ve wasted the time and money spent creating it.
If you think SEO is too expensive, ask yourself this question: “How much is it costing me because my website can’t be found?”
How does SEO work?
Done properly, good SEO will see your site slowly rise through the rankings and stay there. Businesses looking for long-term results need to have patience, as the process doesn’t magically change your site’s rank overnight. It takes time and effort to gain ‘trust rank’ – a term applied to sites seen by the search engines as providing value and credibility to visitors.
SEO is not a science; it’s about understanding how search engines work and being aware of the rules that govern good placement. We work closely with Google to ensure we use only ethical and approved SEO tactics.
